Taj Gibson is concluding his NBA playing career to take a position on the sidelines in Chicago. The veteran forward has retired from the league and joined the Chicago Bulls as an assistant coach under Tiago Splitter, as reported by RealGM Wiretap.
The transition follows a brief series of roster moves. Gibson was recently waived by the New Orleans Pelicans after being acquired in a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies, with whom he had signed a multi-year contract in February.
In his age-40 season, Gibson made 10 appearances for Memphis, averaging 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.7 minutes per contest.
