LeBron James secured nearly $300 million in private financing through an affiliated LLC shortly before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018.

According to insurance records reviewed by Bloomberg and reported by TalkBasket, the transaction involved bonds issued through an entity known as King James Funding. Two life insurers provided the capital for the deal.

The financing was collateralized by future income streams tied to James' commercial portfolio. That backing included expected revenues from his major endorsement contracts, anchored by his lifetime agreement with Nike.
