Jeanie Buss has initiated legal action in Los Angeles Superior Court to halt an effort by her siblings to sell the family's remaining ownership stake in the Los Angeles Lakers, according to RealGM Wiretap.
The Lakers controlling owner filed a petition on Wednesday contesting the legality of a vote taken by her five siblings to offload the team shares. The filing argues that holding onto the franchise stake serves the trust's best interest due to the organization's escalating valuation.
As part of the dispute, Buss is also asking the court to strip siblings Janie Buss and Joey Buss of their positions as co-trustees of the family trust, asserting that they committed a breach of fiduciary duty.
