Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone was overheard discussing a potential NBA pathway with center Kai Sotto, offering to contact the Miami Heat on his behalf.
As reported by BasketNews, the exchange was picked up by FIBA's livestream prior to the postgame press conference following the Philippines' victory over Iran on Sunday.
Cone reiterated his belief that the 7-foot-3 center has the ability to reach the NBA level.
"I still think you need to get in the league. Find a way. I'll talk to Miami. See what I can do? Would you be willing?" Cone asked Sotto, who responded with a nod.
