Second Seattle NBA Expansion Bidder Partners With Tulalip Tribes on Arena
BlackSun Private Equity has teamed up with the Tulalip Tribes to propose a new venue near Marysville, Washington, as efforts to bring the league back gain momentum.
Momentum surrounding a potential NBA return to the Pacific Northwest has expanded with the emergence of a second prospective ownership group and a new venue concept. New York-based investment firm BlackSun Private Equity, which submitted a formal bid in August to bring an expansion franchise to Seattle, has partnered with the Tulalip Tribes.
As reported by RealGM Wiretap, the partnership aims to construct a new arena on tribal-owned land if the group's bid is approved by the league. The proposed development site is located near Marysville, Washington, roughly 35 miles north of Seattle.
Nick Rathod, BlackSun's chief global strategy and communications officer, is among the leadership involved in the effort.
