The agreement includes a 10 percent trade kicker, according to RealGM Wiretap. Thompson originally entered the league as the fourth overall selection in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Overtime Elite.
The long-term investment follows a productive 2025-26 campaign for Thompson during his age-22 season. Across 79 games, he posted averages of 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest, establishing himself as one of the NBA's premier perimeter defenders while converting 21.6 percent of his three-point attempts.
